New Mt Diablo map
There's a new map out of Mt Diablo and the Morgan Territory area all the way to Los Vaqueros Reservoir. The best part about it is that it finally has mileages included between trail junctions. The map is also waterproof. It's available at REI.
Half Dome
Wally and I wanted to run up to Half Dome at Yosemite on Sunday. The ranger said the trails were closed due to ice but after seeing my AR50 jacket he said we would probably be OK. So Wally and I headed up from Curry village with a 6 hour curfew as we had dinner plans with our wives. There were some pretty hairy icy sections but after about 4 miles we were in enough snow that ice wasn't a problem. As we got higher the snow got deeper and we were "running" in 18 inches of snow for the last 11/2 or 2 miles before we turned around less than a mile from the top. It was quite an adventure. The icicles hanging from the cliffs were the stuff of postcards. The river at the top of Nevada Falls was running under the clear ice before it went over the falls. It was really beautiful. That was Sunday and my quads still hurt from the descent. We did get back in time to only be in a little trouble and have a spectacular dinner at the Ahwahnee. Wish you all could have been there.

Quad Dipsea 2007
Team Diablo was once again well represented at the "Quad". Elizabeth Vitalis continued the trend that Kevin set earlier, but went a few "steps" beyond. She broke the course record !!!! It was great fun to watch her work her butt off all day, as you get to see the folks in front(and behind) you, 3 times during the race.
Matt Anderson, ran his usual very strong race, in an excellent time.
It was an excellent, clear, cool day...perfect for running. The link below is a bit more info,

WS 2008 Entry Deadline TODAY! 11/08/07
Hi Everyone,
Well, as many of you may know, today is the last day to register online for WS100 2008. I should mention that due to a friendly little reminder/nudge this week from TeamD, I ended up signing up for the lottery. It would be good to hear who from Team D is throwing their name into the hat. (Some people are talented enough they don't have to be drawn because they placed top 10 last year.) If you are not THAT person, then add a comment to this post so we can see who is trying to get in the race from Team D.
Happy trails, and look for you all outdoors soon.

Team Diablo was represented at the NYC Marathon last weekend as I was able to use a last minute injury of a friend to run the course. It is a great course to run and visit all of NYC and lined all the way with spectators several deep on both sides of the street. I got the loudest "go Diablo" sounds running through Spanish Harlem.

Testing.......This is only a test
Having never blogged before, I am testing the system to evaluate my capability of presenting a blog to the people I see on this list. Is this a blog I am doing?
I find the pictures on this blog site very excellent. I would like to run up the mountain with the snow on it some day.
Your running friend,
Bob

I need help marking the Mt. Diablo Marathon course! I'm out of town until Saturday afternoon and won't be able to mark the course.
This Sunday, November 2 MDIA is putting on a variety of races on Mt. Diable--including a gnarly marathon with 8500' of gain. I'd appreciate help in marking the course on Saturday. Actually, since I'm going to be out of town I need someone to mark the upper "crown" of the course (Juniper Flat, down to Deer Flat, Murchio Gap, Prospectors gap--via road, Summit, Juniper Flat and back to the "Ranger Road" where the single track meets the summit trail road.
BYOR (bring your own ribbons). Also bring a sign for Juniper Flat directing people to go right on the first loop and left (out of the back of the campground) on the way back.
